How to Install TubePress Video Gallery Plugin in WordPress

In this WordPress Video Tutorial, I show you how to install, activate and configure the TubePress plugin. You can find the plugin by searching for the term “tubepress” on the plugins sections of WordPress.org or you can download the TubePress plugin directly from TubePress.org.

 Your Own YouTube Video Gallery

This plugin will allow you to have a video gallery of videos from YouTube, Vimeo, or a combination of both. You can even include videos in a gallery using JWPlayer.  The Video Gallery will display on a page of your WordPress blog or website.

Which Videos Show Up?

The TubePress plugin makes it really easy to create a video gallery on a page of your WordPress blog or website. The video gallery can contain all the videos on your YouTube Channel or just the videos from ONE playlist on your YouTube Channel.  You also have the option to pull in random videos from YouTube based on keywords like “home improvement” or “funny dogs and cats”. Obviously, you have very little control over which videos will end up in the TubePress video gallery on that page in your WordPress blog or website, if you just use keywords as the criteria.

Now to Create the Video Gallery

So in the following video, I show you how to add only the videos from your YouTube Playlist to show up in your video gallery. I also take about 1 minute to show you how to create a YouTube playlist in case you don’t already know how to create one.

So, all in all, you can see that this plugin makes it really easy to add a video gallery to your WordPress website.  Another cool YouTube video tool you may want to check out is flvto.com

Let me know how this video gallery plugin works for you, or if you have any questions.  If you have used any other similar type plugins, please let us know what you think of them. Any recommendations?  Enquiring minds want to know!

I have been seeing a lot of these types of plugins. Allowing people to “curate” video’s from YouTube and other sites in some attempt to gain traffic. I guess they work if you are very specific in the types of video’s you choose.

This plugin looks pretty good for targeting specific niche’s. But if your going to embed your own video’s on your site why not just leverage them combined with written articles to support them.

Well no more excuses – now that you’ve made it sound so drop dead simple to post your You Tube videos on your blog and to group those you want together – guess I’ve got to break down and start producing some videos on a regular basis.

    thanks – I think 🙂 Marty

    Jim,
thanks so much for taking time to share your tutorials for free… wow, I had no idea I could do that my self…. I though I have to hire someone like to do it.. now I feel confident I can do it my self.. well, that does not mean I will do it right away, but will have it on my list once I have some videos of my self or videos that I like to share.

I thank you very much again. you make it so easy, and inspired me to ad a video on my blog, that I made a while back….

This plugin sounds brilliant and effective. I would love to try that and when I have uploaded enough videos related to my business, then, I will love to display the playlist on my blog.

    Hi Jim,

This is exciting! Every time I visit your blog, I install another plugin 🙂 I watched your tutorial, and installed TubePress on my blog. I love the idea of being able to create playlists and manage videos on WordPress. Your video was very helpful…especially the settings section. Thanks…lots of value as usual!

    Raena Lynn

P.S. What is your suggested limit of plugin installations on a blog? I know Thesis uses code, but I still have my favorite plugins.

    • jupiterjim Jul 15, 2013, 6:39 pm

      Raena,

I would love to keep it to only a dozen plugins but sometimes you just gotta go over that limit.

Just make sure it’s for a good cause and the plugins are updated by the developers on a regular basis!

Glad you found the video helpful!

  • Jackie Walker Jul 15, 2013, 4:47 am

What a useful tool Jim. I’ve a few videos on my site each under a separate heading. It might be useful to have them all in one page as well – it might increase the client experience if they could see them all at a glance.

    • jupiterjim Jul 21, 2013, 11:55 pm

      Jackie,

Well you can separate them into YouTube Channels on separate pages if you like, just ask me how and I’ll show you.

  • Silviu Aug 24, 2013, 7:56 am

    Hello Mr. Landers,

Interesting video. A video gallery? Good to know it can be done.
There is one thing I didn’t understand: Is this video gallery static? You need to hover the mouse over the thumbnails in order to change the video or it changes automatically? Maybe you can make it to change automatically.
What about the resources this plugin uses? I already have 15 plugins installed.

    Have a nice day

This is a great tutorial, but can I use tubepress to display different playlist on different wordpress page. Like one page for Dogs video gallary another page for Cat video gallary?
    Thx a million!

    • jupiterjim Jun 8, 2015, 8:50 am

Yes, you can do that. You will have to go to the support page on WordPress.org for this plugin or just go the the developer’s website and they explain how to do that somewhere. You can also google this questions. Sorry, but I don’t remember how to do it right at this moment. But, yes, it is possible.
